We are looking for a proactive, conscientious and collaborative individual to support the delivery of a unique global events portfolio. This role is based in our Portland, Oregon office, reporting to the Events Manager, also based in Portland, Oregon.
Exceptional attention to detail, a creative eye and the ability to work independently are essential for this role. The position also requires the ability and confidence to engage and interact with senior clients in the global IT industry.
This is an exciting opportunity in a demanding but very rewarding role in a fast-growing company. Flexibility and a hands-on approach will be vital for success in this working environment.
You will assist with all aspects of global event planning, concept development and project management. As part of a small team, you will have the opportunity to make a direct and measurable impact throughout the department and the wider company.
The impact you’ll make
- Be the primary interface/contact person for specific groups of event partners and manage a segment of sponsor accounts during the run-up to events and onsite at events.
- Assist with event logistics and delegate management, including venue, hotel and travel management.
- Support relationships with external agencies.
- Provide support to all regional teams with the creation of event assets and materials (invitations, production materials, etc).
- Liaise with the marketing department to create an ongoing lead-generation campaign for audience acquisition, including vendors, channel partners and distributors.
- Lead global event marketing strategy. With the support of the marketing department, develop integrated marketing campaigns and initiatives to promote events. Create compelling short-form content, including blogs, corporate website material, videos, social media, interviews and emails.
What you’ll bring
- Graduate-level education.
- Highly organized with excellent attention to detail.
- Proactive and able to work autonomously without being nudged or reminded about tasks and responsibilities.
- Ability to use initiative to come up with solutions to potential problems, displaying common sense and resourcefulness.
- Able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and to deadlines and stay calm under pressure.
- A great communicator – via email, by phone and in person.
- An excellent negotiator who is resourceful and relentless in trying to get to a solution.
- Understanding the world of events is not a 9-to-5 job all the time. As this role involves global support across different time zones, alternative work hours will sometimes be required.
- A professional appearance and demeanor – comfortable dealing with high-level executives globally.
- Strong creative copyediting and writing skills, with an excellent grasp of the English language.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
- Experience of event management and commercial awareness of the IT industry is highly desirable, but not essential.
