Account Manager - APAC - Singapore

Canalys is looking for an account manager to develop business and manage existing clients in the Asia-Pacific region. This Singapore-based position is an important senior role within a nimble, global technology analyst, consultancy and events business. The role comes with generous compensation, including an attractive base salary and the ability to earn high bonuses and commissions by driving business in the dynamic APAC market. This is an opportunity to play a key role in the growth of Canalys in the APAC region. There is scope to rapidly grow this role to Account Director, so would suit an ambitious Account Manager keen to take the next step in their career.  

About You 

You are experienced at developing relationships at multiple levels within client organizationsand possess the confidence to approach the C-suite. As a proactive and self-motivated salesperson, you are equally comfortable selling as part of a team or alone. You understand the technology industry (or are enthusiastic to learn about tech)You are confident to chase new business as well as account manage existing clients and manage renewals. Canalys’ portfolio includes market intelligence and data services as well as conference sponsorships, so a proven track record of selling these types of products (including outside the technology industry) will be highly regarded. 

About the Role 

Based out of Singapore and reporting into a Worldwide Head of Sales in the UK, this person will be a key driver of the business within the APAC region, excluding China and KoreaThe candidate will be responsible for selling range of continuous information services, market intelligence, research projects and event sponsorship to IT companies. The primary market is Singapore, but Japan, India and Australia are also important markets of opportunity. Regional and global travel is an important part of the role. 

Canalys works with an impressive list of clients in APAC. The candidate will be expected to maintain relationships and renew existing contracts and search for new sales opportunities. The ability to open up new name accounts is an important element of the role. Selling will be exclusively to vendors of technology products, services and solutions, predominantly dealing with senior management within marketing roles.  

Key Responsibilities   

  • Meet and exceed quarterly sales goals and targets to achieve annual quota through selling Canalys research and consulting services, and event sponsorship 
  • Increase business through greater penetration of existing accounts 
  • Identify and exploit business opportunities in “new-name” accounts 
  • Manage involvement in joint global sales opportunities 
  • Plan and execute regular international sales trips 
  • Decide on appropriate usage, and manage the involvement of Canalys analysts within accounts, both in supporting existing business and in developing new opportunities  
  • Provide regular reports of activity and monthly business forecasts to the Worldwide Head of Sales 

Education & Experience 

  • Minimum of 3 years proven sales success, ideally in the technology sector 
  • Degree level   
  • Experience of selling information services, and/or event sponsorship useful but not essential 
  • Selling to senior business leaders in the technology space would be a distinct advantage 
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills 
  • Experience of managing own territory autonomously 

Knowledge & Personal Skills 

  • Highly self-motivated sales professional with a proven track record of selling in the B2B arena with a history of significant over-achievement 
  • Able to open doors and gain new name business 
  • Personable and able to quickly build relationships within target accounts 
  • The requisite sales characteristics of tenacity, drive, commercial awareness, and persuasiveness 
  • Good written and verbal English important (Korean and Mandarin also useful)  
  • Knowledge of the mobile device markets, enterprise infrastructure markets, and/or the channel ecosystem highly desirable
