Canalys COVID-19 statement and FAQs

Gemma Edwards, Senior Director, Marketing and Events, Canalys

I am writing on behalf of the entire Canalys Events Team to assure you during these uncertain times that we are monitoring the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation closely, keeping those who are affected in our hearts, and are listening carefully to the questions and concerns our customers are raising so we can respond accordingly.

We are making several important announcements to provide comfort to our sponsors, distributors and partners.

On behalf of the global Canalys team, we’re here for you during this unprecedented situation. Take care and we will communicate often through the FAQs below as well as updating you via our blog posts. If you have any questions, please get in touch via our contact form.

FAQ

All is going ahead as planned. As the Canalys Forum is scheduled to take place towards the end of H2, Canalys expects it to not be affected by the current situation. We think it is important for this industry event to continue. Therefore, we are not taking immediate steps to cancel. Instead we are making investments in venues and with suppliers, so we are ready to host you at the Canalys Forums. For this to go ahead, we need your support!
Global registration will go live in May, rather than in March. We appreciate many are anxious about the current situation and feel this delay will provide time to plan.
We understand the increased need for flexibility with travel planning right now. We will work closely with you to offer flexible travel reservations.
We are tracking the COVID-19 situation closely. Taking advice from WHO (World Health Organization) and the local governments. We will be in constant communication with our Canalys Forums audience and sharing updates where we can.
Canalys is working with our venues to stringently follow advice from WHO (World Health Organization) in implementing screening and hygiene measures to ensure all attendees feel safe and secure.
The answer is yes, the channel needs to connect and when they do, we will be ready! Contact us to discuss the packages available. The sooner you get on board the more influence you can have in the planning stages.
The Canalys Forums are going ahead as planned. That said, digital solutions have been a critical part of our events for more than ten years. Via our Event App, and on one platform, you can (pre-event virtually and onsite) build your agenda, book meetings, and access all event information. The app is interactive with live Q&A, polling and gamification and new innovations including live simultaneous translation and our friendly chatbot Fero, mean we have an average 98% download and usage rate at our events. As our event platforms continue to innovate, it is a natural progression that streaming functionalities will be integrated within an already effective tool.
