Joe Kempton is an analyst focused on Canalys' Emerging Technology services. He assists with the company's Autonomous Vehicle Analysis service as well as Social Robotics service. He analyzes developments in both markets, including the transformative potential of self-driving cars and transition of social robotics. He supports the company's commercial service propositions in these areas, with analysis of and in-depth insight into global market dynamics.
His research interests also cover a wide range of converging technology areas including mobile apps, app stores and ecosystems, wearables, the Internet of Things, smart phones; and PCs, including tablets and notebooks. Based in Canalys' EMEA office, Joe conducts face-to-face and desk-based research and analysis. He produces quantitative estimates and forecasts, which are routinely quoted in the press, as well as analytical reports and presentations, and responds to client inquiries. He also contributes to confidential consulting projects and bespoke work for clients, and attends major industrial conferences around the world.
Prior to joining Canalys in 2013, Joe worked as an Operations Administrator with Nielsen. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the University of Leicester. As part of his degree, he spent extended periods abroad in academic programs at both the Universitat de València, Spain, and Sungkyunkwan University, South Korea.
